THE QUEEN OF STYLIN' PROFILIN' STRAIGHT OUTTA....
Ok so if you know me, you will know how much I love asking questions. Not just any old questions, RANDOM questions. I like to know what is ticking under glossy Raybans and trendy side partings, the materialistic facade the majority of us only get to see. This is more evident now than ever, especially with our ultra specialised self-editing techniques we are all pros at nowadays due to social networking sites. Making the world judge us however WE want them to.
If you ever check my blog you will know that I have already got some juicy info outta Claw Money and Mr Benson. The people I have choose to ask these Q’s to are people that interest and intrigue me all for different reasons.
I really do not think i have to give a reason why i wanted to ask my friend Sharma to ask these questions. Sharma is certainly and most definitely like no one else on this planet. She has more drive, energy and passion than anyone i have ever met!!! (i must admit i do worry about her burning herself out and getting run down, but hey no one can tell this lady NO as it is not in her vocab)
I have known Sharma for over 3 years now and since then we have both come along way, from roaming around the W1 streets blagging VIP parties with her Arena Homme email address (where she worked whilst studying at St Martins) to competing who has the best acrylic nail designs and of course dreaming of getting paid to take lead in creative projects, which we both now do.
There are lots of things that Sharma and I have a great appreciation for which has made our friendship stronger and consistent over the years we have known one another this includes UK GARAGE (not in a ironic sense), our Working Class upbringings, strong family values, Rudeboys&Chavs, Graphic design, having the ability to fit in hanging out with a bottle of cider on a park bench with a bag of chips and gravy or getting glammed up to the 9’s and making an entrance in some fancy high-end designer party muching on Canapes and sipping Champagne and of course our love for everyday people (whether that is watching them, chatting to them or photographing them). We both love everything that is real! (I don't mean that in a naff "keeping it real" sense either)
There are a million words i could use to describe Sharma, but i think i would prefer to just use one an INSPIRATIION.
This lady is where she always wanted to be doing what she always dreamt of doing. But that does not mean she is gonna start chilling with a cuppa infront of Eastenders and let the world continue to move on without her. This lady is in the driving seat, and all you have to do is sit back and see where she is going to take you!!!
WHO ARE YOU?
Sharmadean Alexandria Reid
WHAT DO YOU DO?
i am a stylist, i consult for brands, i have a site for girls - http://wah-magazine.com and im opening a nail salon. i like doing stuff.
WHY DO YOU WRITE A BLOG?
to remind myself of the things i like. references and such. my old wah blog was a archive of all the girl shit i loved and all the stuff that we (you included Jenny) got up to in the bright lights and big city of london. it was fun and it had direction. im still trying to find direction on my new blog as its more diary style now that i have a full site......
DO YOU THINK THAT BLOGGING HAS MADE YOU A "COOLER" DESIRABLE PERSON?
its made me more accessible, and that is not cool....but i guess more infamous too..
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FOR YOUR BLOG POSTS?
things that i liked as a kid.
WHAT BLOGS DO YOU LOOK AT AND WHY?
too many! mainly girl ones for work, i look at people in different cities to see what is going on in different parts of the world, what the best places are to visit, what people are wearing etc. all of this informs my work. i look at yours and other close friends as it feels like we're staying in touch and i know what is on your mind even when i havent seen you for a while. i dont feel mentally enriched by them though, i only get that from books, films and conversation....
WHAT MAKES A BLOG INTERESTING?
continuity
HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND LOOKING
AT BLOGS EACH DAY? i might spend 3 hours one day then not look at them for a week and my google reader tells me i got hundreds to view! i'm trying to spend a little each day to spread it out.....
HOW WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR TIME IF YOU WERE NOT CHECKING OUT BLOGS?
reading the newspapers or The History of Western Philosophy or any of the other books in my library that are unfinished. writing this sentence has made me sad that i dont read enough....
DO YOU THINK SOCIAL NETWORKING AND BLOGS HAVE MADE YOU LESS CONTENT WITH YOUR OWN LIFE, OR HAS IT MADE IT MORE EXCITING?
humans are competitive by nature so naturally i get pangs of - oh i wish i was in NYC right now! - or - i wish i was at that party wearing that dress - but ultimately i am extremely happy and fortunate to be living the life i live and im content with it. the pangs are momentary.
WHAT EFFCTS DO YOU THINK BLOGS AND SOCIAL NETWORKING HAVE ON YOUR MENTAL HEALTH?
its dangerous if you are insecure or jealous or you have nothing going on in your life or your are unambitious as for some people those pangs are not momentary and i guess it could take over your life. you begin fronting that you are living this cool jetsetting namedropping way when its all a big joke. you can tell when they dont post photos of their so called adventures....you need to be a strong person and stand tall....
DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD HAVE AS MY "FRIENDS" IF THE INTERNET SUDDENLY DISAPPEARED?
yes, because i am lucky to have a great set of friends internationally, we bond over other things than the internet and i would be happy writing them postcards instead of emails or calling instead of blackberry messaging.....my friend pool would be smaller but stronger.
WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF BLOGGING AND HOW ARE YOU GONNA BE PART OF IT?
the future is in image only. words are being phased out. i like taking pictures. maybe i'll just do more....
